Successful Victorian Christmas Market
Tees Cottage Pumping Station held our second Christmas Market on Saturday 25th November. It proved to be a very successful day based on the number of visitors and the positive comments received from visitors and stallholders alike.
Eighteen stallholders brought their wares - cakes, sweets, decorations, local beers, dog treats, clothes etc - and were so pleased with the trade they experienced that they have already reserved their places for the 2024 event.
In total, more than 700 people visited us and enjoyed the seasonal weather and refreshments in our beautiful Victorian setting. The visitors were invited to take a trip to Santa's Grotto, on the Santa Express (provided by the Stockton and Darlington Model Engineers) where Santa and his three Elves were on hand to meet the 150 children and their accompanying adults.
One of many comments received from visitors read: "We all had a lovely afternoon, especially the kids when they travelled on the train to meet Santa Claus. Lots of stalls. Really well organised & well done to everyone involved."
Not only did the Christmas Market provide necessary funds to help preserve and maintain our site but it also brought visitors who had never been to the site before, many of whom said they'd be back next year to see our engines in operation.
Thanks to all who attended the Fair and special thanks to those of our members who made the day possible.
