October Open Days
Last weekend saw the final Open Days of this year at Tees Cottage Pumping Station. More than 700 people visited the site to see the Beam Engine, Lancashire Boiler, and the Gas Engine going through their paces. The café did a roaring trade and, as usual, there was much interest in the Smithy. On Saturday the Locos in Motion Morris dancers made two performances to entertain the crowd and on Sunday, Gala Day, the site welcomed more than 60 vintage cars and more than 20 vintage motor cycles, the vehicles being provided by members of the Teesside Yesteryear Motor Club. In addition, the Aycliffe & District Bus Preservation Society brought along a rare, vintage, former United, double decker bus which proved to be a very successful attraction.
